Steadfast sounds very Puritan, except the Puritans probably wouldn't shorten it to Steady; Steady sounds like a nickname, like a rapper's stage name or maybe a sarcastic nn for someone who is either clumsy or unreliable.
Now I think about it, Steadfast sounds like it could be a persoal hygiene or continence product.
