Carrington sounds like a boys name to me. It’s not bad but not a name I’d use for either sex.

I live near a Carrington town so it’s familiar to me. I can understand how parents could see it as feminine because it’s similar to Carry/Carrie.
I also knew a Kerington (or was it Keringtyn??). Definitely not a fan of that one.
I agree with Ani that it would be better on a boy imo.

As a first name it's just too heavy and blueblood to me. Maybe to a lot of other people too, since it never really caught onn.

I'm not surprised because people seem to be obsessed with naming their kids surnames regardless of gender, but I think Carrington should be male if it's going to be a first name at all. I get why someone might use it though because "she can go by Carrie and that's a girly name".

For some reason Kerrington seems more usable for a girl than Carrington to me, although they both seem more masculine.

There was an artist who went by this name - Dora Carrington, I think? There was also another great Carrington artist, Leonora Carrington, a surrealist. I always mix them up.

Carrington makes me think of the 30s, but in a fun way, not a Great Depression kinda way. "Girls in cropped hair and tuxedos and drinking martinis to be subversive" kinda 30s. It also has a Southern Belle sort of ring to it.

I like it a lot, but it is a lot of name. It could come across as very hoity-toity. But Carrington called "Carrie" or "Cary" would be cute and less unwieldy.

I don’t like feminine names that end in -ton. Some masculine names can get away with it, like Alton, but generally not a fan.

Too much of a surname for a first name and it especially not for the a girl
