[Opinions] Malika and Marika
Wsyt of these names? Which is better?

Replies

I've known a few women called Malika / Malikah and they have all been hilariously feisty and opinionated. They've all also been fierce in fashion sense, the full-glam-at-work kinda women. I've got along well with all of them despite not being that kinda person. Basically, I have a very, very specific woman in mind when I see or hear Malika and I've yet to be proven wrong, bless their fiery full-glam and faintly-intimidating hearts.
It makes me like the name more, not less, but without the association I'm not sure Malika hits the same. I'm not a massive fan of the sounds by themselves and it could be confusing as some people might pronounce it different ways.I 100% like it better than Marika though, which is cold and spiky and without the warmth and fire I associate (by association) with Malika.I prefer Marisa or Melissa to both of them, I think that -ka ending is a bit harsh.
I prefer Malika. It reminds me of the opera Lakmé.
I'm not into the "reek" part of Marika, so I prefer Malika.
Marika sounds just like the F slur in Spanish so I would never use it. However I think Malika is one of the prettiest name with a nice meaning. It sounds so similar to Malaika which means of angel in Swahili, although I prefer Malaika.

I prefer Marika to Malika.
I love the name Malika! I think it's much better than Marika, although that's not a bad name by any means.
