Help[Opinions] What names on the charts right now is the worst?
Are there any names in the top 100 or even top 1000 that you detest and can’t understand their popularity?

Yup, there sure are. Taking from just the top 100 among the U.S current chart, here are the names that I rather don't care for. I'll start with the boy names, then the girls later on in a separate response.
#27 Hudson
As a native New Yorker, the explorer Henry Hudson immediately comes to mind. Hud/Huddy aren't attractive nicknames
#37 & #95: Grayson & Greyson
Just sounds unbelievably wimpy and whiny. Greyson is the better spelling of the two though, but it appears to be on its way out.
#40: Maverick
I get the Top Gun references, but while growing up, this was the name of our family practice facility and we always just referred to it as "The Maverick/Maverick" So anytime I hear/see this name, I'm picturing some type of doctor, besides the movies.
#46: Jayden
I shouldn't have to explain this one. I'm just very glad that these types of names seem to be on their way out, for the most part anyway.
#48: Santiago
I don't get the appeal of this one at all. It just doesn't sound like a name to me and that's the best way I can describe it. I much prefer Tiago.

🐕🚗🐔💩 (Dog's name, mini Cooper, chicken coop & what the name rhymes with) This name is best left for the dogs or as a surname

It's incredibly tacky and cheesy. Better for a boy, sure, but the Spanish pronunciation isn't any better.

Sounds dangerous. 😳 Wailing on is a term I immediately think of, along with the act of someone crying. I also just hate the way the name looks. Waylen is better, but not by much.

I absolutely can't stand this one and I can only hope that it disappears as quickly as it arrived. I could honestly write a whole essay on how much I hate this name, but I'm not going to. I'm just glad that it just isn't in the top 10 anymore.

Makes me think of the eye color and of witch hazel.

Makes me think of novocaine and of PBS. No thanks. If someone is really into space-themed names, then sure, I get that. I still don't care for it.

Thrilled to see this one losing traction, much like Harper. The name has always sounded incredibly annoying and bratty to me.

Ugly like the pattern. Hate it.

Cutesy and will age poorly, similar to most of the names on this list. Also likely to get mixed up with the boy's name Kingsley on a constant basis.

Tall order naming a kid this.
#92 Brooklyn
Better than naming a kid Bronx, Manhattan, or like Staten Island, but still incredibly tacky. Brook/Brooke is better.
#74 Kennedy
These surnames turned "girl" names are just bizarre. Names like Kennedy and Mackenzie are prime examples of that. I don't understand the appeal of naming a kid this, especially for a girl.

Audrey is just better. Sounds nicer too.

I thought I was the only person who first thought of Novocaine when hearing the word nova.
Paisley I also think is so ugly, and I have known both adult Paisleys and Kinsleys and agree it doesn’t age well. I actually thought Kinsley was a nickname and was wondering why she was asking me to call her such a cutesy nickname when I had only just met her.

To be honest, there are a lot. This is not my favorite decade for names.

Oh goodness. Nevaeh is awful. And Murphy!!! Poor girl.

Messiah is just awful. I can get behind biblical names (especially male ones), but this is just one step too far.
The kid will have a lot to live up to, that’s for sure 🥲
Sadly I know several kids that bear these names.
Imagine that as a sibset 😂 their brother could be Bolt Action Rifle
I will never understand the obsession with naming a child after a BRAND.
This is going to sound very dramatic, but I think brands have kind of replaced religion and philosophy. Or at least, they have an equal seat at that table. Brands represent so much to people now, ethics and aspirations and codes to live by. Brands are the way people say "this is who I am, this is what I live for". I don't understand it either. It's creepy, which is sort of fun, but also not.
I would have to agree. Consumerism is almost like a god for some people. The purpose of their life is to be a consumer. When you put it that way, why wouldn’t someone name their child after a company that “reflects” their philosophies.
I agree. I’ve heard people suggest that it’s because with most accents, the dr sound is technically pronounced as jr (and tr is technically chr) based on how your tongue moves. Considering the fact I’ve been speaking English my entire life and never noticed it, I’m not really sure if I’m buying this as a reason for people choosing this spelling. If that’s the case why aren’t people naming their kids Jrake and Chroy?
I have to agree that is one of the worst names I have ever heard.
