[Opinions] Tiara or Halo?
Replies
Tiara is less outlandish but Halo sounds more peaceful and serene. I would use Tiara for a child and Halo for a character. I'm reminded of the game Halo. That's not a bad thing necessarily, but it just doesn't seem like a real name yet.
Are they alike? They are both word names but whereas Tiana is more like spoiled princess, Halo is an angel or an uppity goddess. Either way, the name carries inherent superiority that might be hard for the child to bear. The good news is that I don't hear the word tiara a lot, so it sounds like a word to me than it did years prior. The name is pronounced two ways, the word only one. There are more options here. Tiara could be safe as a first name. Halo would be much safer as a middle name. It could never be a nickname for Haley or Hale. That would be cool. :)

I think Tiara is nicer. It has more similarity to other names like Kiara and Sierra so the meaning of crown seems more incidental.
Halo makes me think of astigmatism and driving at night, haha.

Halo. Where Tiara sounds like it’s stuck in the nineties, Halo sounds and looks refreshing. A combination of Hailey and Milo. Would I name my child Halo, no. Halo’s are best kept for angels and tiara’s for royalty, but I do prefer the first over the second.
Tiara/Tiera/Tierra seems much more name-like to me. Halo sounds too much like an accented "hello." It sounds perfectly ordinary to say "Hello, tiara" but "Hello, Halo" sounds ridiculous.
Tiara is prettier.
