... that Elvis is all right for a boy. It might be, but it's such a one-off kind of name, so totally associated with Presley, that I think it's just about impossible for the majority of people to separate the name from him. I imagine there were other Elvises before him, but Presley is the only one anyone's likely to know about, except Costello and he named himself after Presley.Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you criticize him, you're a mile away and you have his shoes!

I feel like I remember a Scandinavian poster here mentioning a sighting or two of it. Years and years ago but still. Maybe because it's so like Alvis.And Elvis was used 122 times (all boys) in the US in 2021. Compared with Beyonce which was only 5 times and Madonna which was 6 times (all girls), that seems fairly regular usage for a rare name. The #1000 name for boys that year was only used 217 times.
