Reminds me of my aunt named Cookie. Don't worry, it's just a nickname. 馃槃 Apparently when she was a kid her and her sister Penny (also a nickname) were inseparable, so the adults around them would often say, "You get a cookie for a penny." The nicknames just stuck.
I will agree that it's silly even as a nn, but even worse as someone's actual name. Same goes for Coco.
