I know a toddler Barrett "Bear". I'm iffy about it. All I hear is 'bear it'.Edit: also not a great meaning to bear (lol).

Cute though I’m not a fan of Barrett and Bear wouldnt be cute as an adult male. (Especially as it has associations with specific lifestyles)

I secretly love Bear as nickname for Bernard

So the Bar- of Barrett sounds like 'bear', the large animal? In American English? In my dialect there's no similarity at all, so it just wouldn't happen. And Barrett isn't even close to 'beret' either.

It does! I read about a gymnast naming her baby that.
