It just sounds like a nickname to me, not a full name. Probably would think Josephine is the full name.

I don’t like it. I can’t help but think of the F word and effing— the euphemism people use when they don’t want to say the actual curse word.

It makes me think of the F word. I’ve heard “effing” a few times instead of the curse word. Effie is very similar.

My great-grandmother was Dora Effie. For reasons I don't know my mom finds it hilarious.I'm not a fan of Effie, it's unfinished, too sweet, and unsubstantial.

I love it! It’s a family name for me, my great grandma was Effie Florence.Sometimes I use it as a nickname for Stephanie (Stephie -> Effie)

I think that it’s a very cute name; Effie’s vintage qualities and uniqueness up its value for me!

I love it as a nickname for Elfrida, Euphemia, Euphrasia, Euphrosyne, etc.

I know a little Effie, it's her full name. I think it works perfectly well, it doesn't feel to "nicknamey" at all. It's unexpected but familiar at the same time.

I'd always assumed it was a nn, but on my husband's family tree there is an Effie whose full birth name it was. It's more user-friendly than Euphemia, but it has a fluffy, frivolous vibe that I find unfortunate as a life sentence.
