[Opinions] 1880s-1900s Male Names
I had some downtime at work, and I looked up the common names during the 1880s-1900s. I choose the names that you don't come across very often today.
Clifford
Sherwood
Cleveland
Grover
Leander
Winston
Cornelius
*Clarence
*Clyde
*Chester (love the nn Chet)
*Ira
Wallace
Otis - although this did have a bit of a revival
Stanley
*Rosecoe - also had a bit of a revival
Wilbur
Gilbert
Maurice
Elbert
Morris
**Claude
**Emil
Lonnie
Hiram
Sylvester
Irvin
Irving
*Rudolph
Vernon
I've starred the ones I really like.
I was surprised to find Jay, Ross, Levi and Jake on the list - they have a modern feel.

I like Clifford (nn Cliff), Leander (nn Lee), Irving, Chester (nn Chet), Stanley (nn Stan), and Emil. Rosecoe (Roscoe, nn Ross) and Morris (nn Mo/Morrie) are my favourites.
For some reason I think that most of these would make excellent dog, cat or character names : Grover, Sherwood (nn Woody), Winston, Clyde, Wallace (nn Wally), Wilbur, Maurice, Gilbert, Sylvester, Rudolph, Otis, Vernon
The rest I don't much care for

I'm so happy to find another Clarence lover! Twins Claude & Clarence with older brother Chester.
