I’m actually surprised Oscar hasn’t gotten more popular in the last few years. I heard a mom calling for her kid Oscar a few months ago. It feels very on trend to me.
I went to school with three Oscar’s, one was white/American and the other two were from Mexico and El Salvador. I think it’s probably been more consistently popular in Spanish speaking communities and less so in white American ones.
I really like Oscar, to the point of hoping it doesn’t get mega popular because I’d want to consider using it for a boy if I ever have one.
