I have a Jesse James in my family tree as I think first and middle name rather than double first name. Born in Britain in the 1880s I have no idea if news of the outlaw had reached here or if it is simply coincidence.
I have always seen Jesse as a boys name and Jessie as a girls nickname for Jessica.
