I love the name Jillian for a girl; the “J” makes it look more visibly pleasing to me.

I have met a Gillian who goes by Gill. I always want to pronounce it "gill" and "gill-ian".

I kind of hate Jill for how 'common' it is, but I also don't think it's common. I think Jill only sounds common because of "Jack and Jill" and we know that Jack is the common everyman fairytale name, and Jill only gets that reputation by association. The sound also makes no sense to me and doesn't sound namey at all. I think it sounds like an unpleasant word instead of a name.

Jilly is better than Jill but it's also not a good name, it's like a cross between silly and jelly. Jill is at least more usable in a serious context. I'd prefer Gigi or Jiji but those don't sound very serious either.

Th full name Jillian just makes me think we should bring back Julian as a unisex name because that sounds so much better.

I've known a few Gillian people and only one Jillian, whom I felt sorry for. I like Gillian enough to use it, and Jillian not at all.

I like the names, although all the Jillians I've known have been less than stellar people. I much prefer the Gillian spelling.

I have known several people called Gillian. I am unsure how they all spell it but most of the ones I do know spell it with a G. Two of them are younger than me, one by four years and one by eight years so both are in their 30s now. My downstairs neighbour is Gillian known as Gill and she is late 50s at a guess. The mother of two children I used to babysit was also Gillian known as Gill and I would guess at mid 50s roughly the same age a former work colleague who was known as Jill. Though she too was Gillian I’m not sure if it was with a G or J. I also have a customer Jillian who is at a guess in her 40s.

In the UK the spelling Gillian / Gill is the most common

The name itself is not my style, but it's a perfectly good name.

My 23-year-old niece is named Jillian. It's a great name - recognizable, not dated, not trendy. An underused gem.

I've never met a Gillian but know a few Jillian and a few Jill. It's ok, but wouldn't use them

I think Jillian is quite cute. It is stylish but not really common. I've only known two, plus a couple of Jills. I like Jill too, it's no-nonsense and friendly. Not fond of Gillian, it just doesn't look right.
