[Facts] LIam
I'm curious to the history of Liam. Was it used in Ireland as a nickname, and how long ago did it pop up?

Liam is a short form of Uilliam, the Irish language form of William. Back in the 1400s the diminutive of Uilliam seems to have been Uillec. I don't have good information on when Liam became the more common pet form in Ireland, but it does not seem to have been used as a birth certificate form before the late 19th century.

Sorry, I can't do anything about that. If you send me an email address in a private message, I will send you a copy of the column as I originally wrote it.
I know you can't - it must be frustrating. I wasn't sure if you knew or not.
