[Opinions] Avaline?
I *just* stumbled across this name. I pronounce it like av-a-LEEN like the prn. says to, the first "av" sounding like the "av" in the word avenue. I'm using the combo Avaline May in a Create a Class on the games board.Wdyt of Avaline? Do you think someone named Avaline would get the pronunciation AV-a-line often in the US?

I would probably say AV-a-line or AV-a-lyn before av-a-LEEN, but that's because I really detest many -line names when they're pronunced as -leen. Avaleen would be a more intuitive spelling choice, IMO, but then you might as well go with Abilene, as it sounds almost exactly the same.Actually, that pretty much sums up my feelings on Avaline. At the moment, I'm growing fond of Abilene, and I'd rather see that. Avaline isn't bad--just really, really not for me. :)Array

It's very pretty, but I'll admit my first instinct was to say AY-vuh-line; I don't know if other people will make that mistake.-- Sarah

Avaline is a pretty name but it kind of looks like a cosmetic company name (ex. a mix between Avon and Maybelline). Some people might mispronounce Avaline as AY-va-leen or AY-va-line. It's still a nice name though.

I agree, I prefer Ava, Avery or Avril. Also I've heard of Avis. :)Mum to Hayley Anne

I was considering this name when I was pregnant if I had a girl....I think it is a pretty name and I was debating on how to spell it. I prefer it with a 'y' with the ending being pronounced 'lynn'. Here are some of the spellings I was considering: Avalynn, Avalyn, Avelyn, Avelynn.
