[Opinions] Swedish Museum names!
So my roommate and I went to a local Swedish-American museum recently and I found a few interesting names among the immigrants mentioned in some of the exhibits. Most of these people were born sometime in the 17/1800s, and it’s always very fun to find odd names from that era. Anyhoo:
Male:
Swan (I have a theory that this was just a variant of Sven, but it does look a bit funny to English-speaking ears.)
Female:
Othellia
Theolina

I'm Swedish and I've done a lot of genealogy research on emigrants who left for the US. I would say that you're correct thinking Swan is an Americanised version of Sven. It's also quite common that the last name Svensson became Swanson.
