It is used in Spanish and other languages as well. It is derived from the Greek Areios.
The forms Arrius and Arria probably come from the Latin Arrius which in turn comes from Etruscan.
Thinking about the name since I first posted I am finding it more interesting, especially in the form Arria. There were some interesting Roman women named Arria.
