[Opinions] Sidney
What do you think of Sidney for a boy?
Replies
I've met a middle aged baker named Sidney, and (nothing to do with him personally) I kind of hated it. I imagine I'd appreciate it as a baby's name even less.
Well, it has always been, and never not been, a boy name.
I like it pretty well. I just don't like the -dn- in it, and for that reason I would be very unlikely to use it.
My character-image of Sidney is part-dorky (like Sid the Science Kid) and part-punk (like Sid Vicious). Neither strong nor handsome, but still a contender because of being either shrewd or brash, or both. A positive image, but not purely so.
I like that it was first popularized because of a political martyr, that makes it interesting.

Sidney's life as a male name goes back for centuries. As a boy name for today, it's vintage but not unpleasantly so: where I live, anyway, it was never popular enough to feel overused. I think it would be fine.
I know one woman, born in the early 1940s, whose mn is Sidney. Her father, Sidney, was fighting in North Africa at the time, and she was named after him in absentia. Her fn is Jennifer.

It's very dashing, and the nickname Sid is deliciously rakish.
I think it’s definitely more of a feminine name, you could maybe shorten it so Syd? Hope that helps and at the end of the day it’s your baby and if you love the name don’t listen to random people on the internet💕
I don't really like it
really no offence but i dont think it works i think the boy would get bullied quite a lot i would highly not reccomendend ( not trying to offend) i assume your talking about a multigendered background name i suggest cody or kerry etc as unisex names i hope this helps also please could you comment on my musical artist poll im trying to get as many people on as psible to vote thanks
