I know a girl called Lillian. She hates it and only gets called Lily. She hates it whenever someone calls her Lillian. Apparently she was called it "incase she became the future prime minister and Lily isn't formal enough". I don't think it's ancient- I just think of a young, lively girl from the early 1900's; someone young from the past.
