Elenia is becoming popular in Germany, though it's still rare (#467).
I don't have an valid informations on this name, but the explanation seems logical to me. There are many names with a similar style, that are quite popular in Germany right now, so it figures, that some of them get mixed up, creating new names.

Elenia should be one of the many possible transcriptions of Еленя (Yelenya), which is a Russian diminutive of Yelena (which is often variantly transcribed as Elena). You see, the standard transcription of the Russian capital letter Е is Ye, but it is often variantly transcribed as E because that is just a tad easier and more recognisable (especially for those unfamiliar with the Russian language). Some other languages will transcribe the letter as Je (see Jelena, for example).Similarly, the standard transcription of the Russian lower-case letter я is ya, but it is often variantly transcribed as ia and in some other languages as ja. For example, compare Tatyana with Tatiana and Tatjana. So, for Еленя (Yelenya) you can get all manner of transcriptions, and Elenia is one of them.Name sources used:

I'm Russian and I've never heard of Yelenya before. The most common Russian nickname for Yelena is Lena. Even if Yelenya exists it's either extremely rare or archaic.Sorry, but your sources don't seem trustworthy.
Some of the "names" mentioned in imya.com are profanities. Helena is not used in Russia at all.

Thank you! Have you ever heard of just Lenya as a diminutive for Helena?

I've never heard of Lenya (pronounced leh-nya) as a diminutive for any name.Lenya (pronounced lyoh-nya) can be a variant transliteration of diminutive for Leonid.
