Ari is already a masculine. I've never thought of it as anything other. Laurie on the other hand, is strictly feminine to me. I wouldn't even use it as a nickname. Perhaps that's just me.
And to answer your last question: my uncle's on my material side of the family, are all named Harry, Larry, Barry, Perry "Paul", Gary, Terry (probably missing a few) because grandmother apparently loved the rhyming scheme after Harry Jr was born. So, yes. Yes, I have met a Larry, Barry (Although not quite Berry) and a Perry. 馃槀馃槀
The names are alright, but definitely dated, some more so than others. (Not including Ari)
