I've never known a Theresa who went by Tessa; and I've never known a Tessa whose name was a nn for Theresa. I love Tessa and don't enjoy Theresa at all. Ione is better than Iona, from a sound perspective, but I think it would be better as a mn. As a combo, both Tessa and Theresa end in -a and therefore run uncomfortably into Ione. But the names are so seldom said out loud together that it hardly matters.
