[Opinions] Re: Top 10 for September (plus ten-year comparison)
in reply to a message by Uilos
Even though many of the names that were new on my feminine list last month have disappeared this month, the newer aesthetic (not every name ending in -a) has for the most part stayed. The -r names were replaced with more -n names, though. A major change did, however, occur in my masculine list, which is usually pretty static:
Nicholas Bennett
Wesley Owen Rhys
Finn Gabriel
Donovan Leo
Malcolm Elliott
Jonathan Daniel
Thomas Emory
Dominic Adam
Stephen Heath
Rowan Arthur
&
Sabrina Lily
Adrienne Celeste
Felicity Charlotte
Miranda Violet
Adelaide Ivy
Caroline Willow
Keturah Juliet (nickname "Kitty")
Clarissa Meadow
Jane Philippa Rose
Josephine Iris
I made Thomas' combo shorter, and Jonathan, Stephen, Rowan, Adrienne, Keturah, Clarissa, Jane, and Josephine replaced Nathan, Adam (now a middle), Theodore, Violet (now a middle), Iris (now a middle), Maxine, Guinevere, and Summer. Adam had been among my Top 10 for a long time.
For fun, I looked back on my September 2012 list, and here were the combos (listed alphabetically):
Alexander Everett
Brian Cameron
Dominic Edmond
Gregory Logan
Malcolm Scott
Matthew Timothy
Nicholas Owen
Richard Charles
Wesley Xavier
William Yorick
&
Brigit Aveline
Celia Frances
Cordelia Diana
Emma Viola
Freya Genevieve
Katarina Marian
Penelope Josephine
Philippa Constance
Sabrina Vivian
Ursula Zoe
I don't get Gregory Logan. I don't remember liking either name, and I'm doubly surprised to see something so harsh in my Top 10 (although it does sound like a cowboy's name). Funnily enough, I had the Wesley & William combos starred as potential twin names on the list. Brigit Aveline & Celia Frances are pleasant surprises, though I'm less enthused about Emma's appearance here. Just plain overdone.
