I pronounce them with the first syllable like "car."
I prefer Kara. It seems stronger and brighter to me.
I like it - but it's maybe a little too brassy for my taste.
I knew a Kara growing up.
I don't like the other pronunciation for Kara, with first syllable like "care."
Cara seems more complicated and moody.
I think the other pronunciation of Cara ("care"-uh) gives it a bit more spirit, but I like it less than Kara ("car"-uh).
