[Opinions] Cyrus
What are your opinions on the name Cyrus for a boy? I think it’s a very interesting and unique choice, personally. I also adore the nickname Cy. My only qualm with this name would be the relativity to Miley Cyrus. She’s not a bad association at all in my eyes. However, I feel like maybe someone would think the namer/user was a huge Miley fan. That’s not a big deal in my mind, though.

I like it. I don’t associate it with Miley Cyrus but with Persian kings. I also think the nickname Cy is pretty cute.
I like it. Great name. I met a friend's friend once whose son was Cyrus. He was born around 2000. Parents definitely not fans of Billy Ray or Miley.
Miley Cyrus is just so unfortunate and forgettable. It seems to me that even if someone did think of her, they wouldn't want to admit they thought of her. I don't think it's associated with Miley, or even with her dad ... it's been just too much of a first-name, even before they were ever heard of. A weird thing is, I can't think of any famous people named it... there were always guys called Cy, but it wasn't short for Cyrus. I dunno, it just seems like a firstname to me, regardless.

I love it, I used to work with a sweet little boy called Cyrus. I didn't think his parents were big Miley fans, but this was around 10 years ago.

When I meet girls called Miley, I don't usually assume their parents are big fans of Miley Cyrus, but that they just really like the name.

I like Cyrus. It's beachy and breezy and associated with Persian kings.
My first thought is Cyrus the Virus who I think was a character in the movie Con Air.
Despite this association I quite like the name but would be more likely to use it as a middle name because children can be cruel.

I don't know that I would immediately associate Cyrus with Miley Cyrus. I assume always that children named Miley are the children of big Miley Cyrus fans. (Except I do know a girl my age named Mileigh and I have no idea where that came from, as Miley Cyrus would have been, well, one.) I think Miley would be an unusable name, completely overwhelmed by a singular association, regardless of one's feelings towards Miley Cyrus. (I go back and forth on her myself. I don't at all regret spending way too much money to see her Bangerz tour in 2014, but she's not someone whose music I listen to on the regular.)
Cyrus, though, is a much older name with a far deeper history than Miley Cyrus (and/or Billy Ray Cyrus, Noah Cyrus, or Trace Cyrus for that matter).
I don't know if I'd use it, but I don't dislike it. My associations are largely animal-based: I've known of horses and turtles with the name. But still, I don't hate it.
