[Opinions] Re: Thoughts on the name Christian for a girl
in reply to a message by GP
This was the name of one of my best friends in high school. Starting out she went by Chrissy, but eventually she shortened it to Chris because she thought Chrissy was juvenile.
She hated her name. True, a lot of people don't like their names growing up, but unless someone saw her (very feminine) middle name in print, every new teacher assumed she was a boy until they met her. This was also the case outside of school. Chris even mentioned a couple times (usually to new people) that her parents weren't even the ones that named her - apparently, due to some sort of family tradition (I forget the details) her godmother actually named her.
So... the only girl I've ever known with this name hated it. Outside of this personal association, I don't generally like the name Christian for anyone. To me, it's like naming your kid Muslim or Buddhist.
