Help[Opinions] Grover, Elmo, and Kermit
Would you ever seriously consider these names for a real baby, either in the first name spot, or middle name spot?

We genuinely considered Elmo for our second baby! I really like it but admit the association did worry me a little.
I also really like Grover. I don’t think I’d use it but would love to see in the wild.
Kermit - it had never occurred to me that this was a name independent of the frog! How cool. This one feels the most inextricably tied to the muppet for me.

Obviously not together, but Grover is absolutely on my shortlist.
I went to high school with a guy called Elmo, and he rocked it.
I would give them a solid classic middle so they have a fall back if they end up on the quieter side.

I think I won't consider them as a real person's name, either as first name or middle name. Apart from the show, I just don't think that they're eye-catching.

Grover is really no worse than Oscar, for SS associations, but I dislike it. Sounds too much like Rover.
If not for the Muppet, I might think Kermit was pretty neat and due for a comeback. But, no. There just isn't anything about it but the puppet and his voice, now.
Elmo - definitely not. "Elmo" material is still slithering out of the TV studio, and it's worse than ever. Not cute

Besides the fact that the association with Sesame Street is completely overpowering, the names themselves are kind of ugly. And while yes, there are other associations that can be made, they are far less famous than the obvious.
I actually knew an Elmo once upon a time. He was significantly older than me - quite frankly he may have predated Sesame Street - but he regarded his name with resentment.

I love all three and would use any of them on a real baby.

Grover
I like Grover. I'd use it, first or middle. He'd probably end up as "Grove". I think Grover Cleveland first and then Grover the Muppet second and that's probably why.

Nope, nope, nope, not at all. Not only are they much too tied to the muppets that everyone knows about, but I don't care for the names themselves. I feel Elmo and Kermit would be the most problematic,because of how recognizable those characters are.
Being a middle name would be slightly less problematic because less people would naturally know about it, but would still be room for teasing once known.
Kermit is so synonymous with the green frog, and I'm pretty sure almost every single person had some type of Elmo toy, or other merchandise as a young child.

No. They are just way too associated with the characters for me to take them seriously now. There's other namesakes for Grover and Kermit, but I can't think of any other Elmo, though there must beat least one someplace.
I love the characters of Lovable Furry Old Grover and Hi-Ho, Kermit Thee Frog, but I really can't stan Elmo. Yuc.
