As three of their children enter their adult years, Donovan and Julius, Alathia's parents, make the surprising decision to get back together. It turns out that being romantically apart but co-parenting together was very beneficial to Donovan and Julius' relationship in the long run.
YEAR 13
Eveline suddenly passes out at work one day, and is rushed to the ER. There, doctors conclude that she has Type-1 Diabetes. After a brief hospital stay and lots of instruction on caring for herself, Eveline is ready to tackle this new part of her life.
YEAR 14
Alathia gets into trouble at school for multiple missing homework assignments. Instead of punishment, Donovan and Julius work with Alathia to find the root of this issue so that it doesn't happen in the future.
YEAR 15
Alathia develops a celebrity crush on Jude Law.
YEAR 16
Benedict comes clean to the family about his intense struggles with drug addiction. Donovan and Julius immediately enroll him in a rehab facility so that he can heal and move on with his life.
YEAR 17
After a vulnerable confession to her best friend, Alathia fears they are growing apart. She tries her best to fix the situation, but it ultimately is out of her control and Alathia is left mourning what the friendship used to be.
YEAR 18
Alathia starts doing simple home-improvement projects for her college apartment, and it blossoms into a newfound love of woodworking!

YEAR 12 Ender comes out as queer. He tells his family that he’s bisexual like their dad (though Ender prefers omnisexual). It doesn’t cause any uproar in the family, they’re just glad he could be open with them. One of his good friends seems a bit standoffish now, which Ender hopes blows over quickly.
YEAR 13 Ender’s new favorite book is The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee (but he still tells everyone it’s Ready Player One, which was his favorite last year).
YEAR 14 Ender gets a pet of his own, a senior checkered giant rabbit named Merlin who was found living in an abandoned building. Merlin is aloof, but will sometimes come when called. He always hides from strangers, and hates other rabbits. He's intelligent and likes to figure things out. He is not very clean. He is easily entertained and can entertain himself for hours on end with a stuffed toy. He won't eat anything except his favorite food, which (aside from hay) is mustard greens and, as a special treat, he likes to eat peach as well. He loves knocking things off shelves, lick fabric (why is this a trend amongst Radclyffe animals?), prefers to sleep on top of or next to his house instead of in it, and sometimes growls when he is happy. Year 11: My friend Quinten was adopted. Sadly, our corgi Emily died at 12 years old. I am upset but I will get over it after a while. I have a new favorite movie which is Iron man! I love superhero movies!
Year 12: After a lot more practice for softball I try out for the middle school softball team. I made it. My whole family and friends are very proud of me, especially my mom, who was on the softball team when she was my age.
Year 13: I start a new hobby of fishing. My dad and I like to go fishing on Saturdays. We have lots of fun and we always make each other laugh.
Year 14: My family decides to homeschool me. I am devastated. I will really miss my friends. But maybe it is for the best, I don’t really pay attention much.
Year 15: I am worried that me and Quinten are not becoming friends anymore, we don’t talk as much.
Year 16: Me and my family move to my grandma’s city in Louisiana. I am still being homeschooled. I will miss my friends but I will make new ones.
Year 17: Quinten’s parents agreed that Quinten could temporarily stay with our family to visit. I also get in trouble at school and get suspended for 4 days. My parents are disappointed.

I got in some trouble at school this year. Daniel was getting picked on by some kids in my class, and I stood up for him. Next thing I knew, three boys were on the ground and I had a bloody nose. Slate heard the commotion and came to help, but he said by time he got there, I'd already taken care of things. I got a detention for two weeks for fighting, but since it was in response to bullying, the school waived the three day suspension. Dad said I did the right thing, but Mom said I should have went and gotten a teacher. I'd do it the same way again, I think. Slate convinced Mom and Dad to sign Daniel up for karate, and Daniel loves it!
