The past five years have once again been rather eventful for Northumbria. King Francis dies of sweating sickness, leaving his throne to the newly crowned King Magnus. Queen Aveline has prepared for this, though, and convinces King Maoilios to wage war on Northumbria, to take back the land that Queen Aveline sees as rigthfully hers. Princess Cassandra's beloved husband, Prince Everard, passes away of pneumonia. Stricken with grief, the Princess vows never to remarry. Meanwhile, in Aragon, the people's demand grows so strong that Prince Aristedes divorces Princess Dionysia, taking all six of her children as his heirs. She remarries to the Baron Jason of Cambria. Queen Aveline has borne two new Scottish princes: Prince Ellar and Prince Iain. The new King and Queen welcome their sons Prince Theseus and Prince Nathan.
