I like both spellings, but I suppose that Erica looks a bit tidier than Erika.
I'm a bit soft on the Erika spelling because it can be Japanese.

Mixed feelings. A good friend makes me want to like the name, but her tragic life and death do not. The plants are indigenous to where I live, and they are lovely; I've got some in my garden. But my friend's childhood nn was Eggs, which is unfortunate.
For what it's worth, her sister is Penelope, nn Penny, and her daughter is Deirdre.

While I like the association with heather, I find Erica almost comically unattractive. I think it's also the name of a species of jumping spiders, which I find more appropriate - it just sounds horribly grating to me, the "RICK" sound being identical to the Polish word for "roar" doesn't help it's case either. Erika sounds just as bad, but looks slightly better. Sturdier. Less spidery.

Erica here!
Erica isn't one of my favorite names, but it's also far from the worst one to have. I definitely feel like an Erica, if that makes sense - it's a fairly "pink" name, but not too dainty / frilly / princess-y (despite being three syllables). The main thing that made it semi-annoying to grow up with was the fact that it was always misspelled as Erika, for some reason (and funnily enough, each Erika I've met had their name always misspelled Erica, so I guess we just can't win). Of the two spellings I prefer my own, if for no other reason than Erica is very easy to sign in cursive, and the middle K wouldn't be as sleek.
Most of the Ericas / Erikas I've met, if I learned their middle name then it was a simple one like mine: Jane, Lynn, Marie, Rose (mine)... But if I were to make a new combo with my own name, I think I'd go against the grain a little:
Erica Josephine
Erica Willow
Erica Scarlett
Erica Marguerite
Erica Marjorie
Erica Beatrice / Erica Beatrix
Erica Louise (okay, this one is pretty basic)
Erica Valentine
Erica Simone

I like it. Sometimes people confuse it with my name (somehow) and sometimes I actually wish it was my name.
It's okay in my opinion but it's pretty.
