[Opinions] Re: Esmée
in reply to a message by Gaia
I have always loved Esmée, this spelling; but I admit that it's not the most practical. I've adapted to the somewhat more common, though still not hugely popular, Esme (no accent) spelling. And Esme is a fixture in my Top 10 now.
However, I hate the "ez-mee" pronunciation, it's "ehz-may" or go home! I mean, really, no one pronounces Renee / Rene as "reh-nee," so why does Esme get that treatment anywhere?
I can't say I like Esmé as much, though, because that's the spelling that's historically masculine (and similar to René, which is still a French masculine name today).
