[Opinions] Re: Rhoda
in reply to a message by )(
There is an older slang term here called Mary and Rhoda, though it isn't very common anymore, to mean a pretty and pristine girl and her plainer looking, sloppy best friend/companion. It's pretty obscure now but I always think of that so it isn't the loveliest image. Unlike say Betty and Veronica to mean a contrast in style of 2 equally lovely women. Don't hold me to it but I think it's a reference to Mary Tyler Moore?I do prefer Rhoda and the similar RhondaI also think of the obscure biblical character named Rhoda who "opened the door" could be a positive meaning if interpreted very looselyPlease rate my "Names I would Use" list & "Backup Favorites" list. Feel free to rate some of my other lists too if you have the time.

Absolutely this is a reference to the characters on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show." Just find an episode of that to watch on your cable TV or a streaming service and you'll see that. :)
