I prefer it to Joan, though I prefer Joan to Joanne.
I love the two songs I know that feature it: Visions of Johanna (I ignore the h!) and Give Me Hope, Joanna. I would only consider it as a mn, because it shortens to Jo, which I don't like on a girl.
