[Games] Re: Victorian Era Generational CAF - Part 1
The Victorian era was a period in British history running from 1837 to 1901. This generational CAF will follow one family in Victorian (London, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Sheffield, Bristol) throughout this era. You may give each member of the family as many or as few middle names as you like.Malcolm Thornton is a somewhat self-important but very talented blacksmith and farrier (maker of horseshoes) living in Bristol. In 1826, at the age of 22, he meets 20-year-old Margaret “Molly” Ward, a physician's daughter, and they fall in love quickly. The two are fairly well-off and get married in 1827. The two purchase a modest yet beautiful home in the city. During the day, Molly mends clothing items for a small fee and attends teas in the afternoon with several good friends of hers. Only a year after their marriage, Molly gives birth to a beautiful baby boy with curly brown hair.DH (1804): Malcolm Arthur Thornton “Malcolm”
DW (1805): Margaret Diana (Ward) Thornton “Molly”
DS1 (1828): James Phillip Thornton “Jamie”A year after Jamie’s birth, Molly finds out she is pregnant once again. In the spring of 1830, Malcolm and Molly welcome Jack, their second son. Jack is such a happy, easy baby, and both parents are thrilled. Shortly after his birth, Molly’s mother falls ill and passes away. The family mourns - Molly was especially fond of her mother and misses her dearly. Molly's father is also grieved and moves to Bristol to be nearer to his daughter, Molly, his only surviving child. He becomes a household presence and a wonderful grandfather to Jamie and Jack.DS2 (1830): John Duncan Thornton “Jack”Over the next few years, Molly gives birth to another healthy baby, a girl. They. name her Sadie. The family is thrilled - they feel complete with so many children in their home, even though money has become a little more tight as the children have aged. Molly begins dressmaking in the family's attic to earn a little extra money, and in 1837, she becomes pregnant again, this time with twins. The birth process is arduous, but Molly eventually gives birth to two small babies, a boy and a girl. Molly never fully recovers from the birth and passes away three months later. The family is devastated and ten-year-old Jamie leaves school to begin peddling newspapers on the street.DD1 (1832): Sarah Elizabeth Thornton “Sadie”
DD2 (1838): Anne Isabeau Thornton “Annie”
DS3 (1838): Miles George Thornton “Miles” Jamie is, at 14, apprenticed to his father and begins work as a blacksmith. The other children attend school. In 1852, Jamie marries his childhood friend, Mary. He now co-owns the blacksmith shop with his father, who is getting older and finds it harder to work. Jamie and Mary have only one child together: a brilliant and evidently intelligent girl named Lily. Jamie sends his daughter to a special girls' boarding school to learn mathematics and science. She thrives there and develops an interest in chemistry. When she graduates, she begins reading scientific journals and is apprenticed to a scientist and professor in Cologne, Germany, who is willing to allow her to use his laboratory. She becomes heavily influential in the sphere of science, despite her gender, publishing most of her findings under her professor's name.DH (1828): James Phillip Thornton “Jamie”
