[Games] Re: International Series pt. 1 - Western Africa CAF
This CAF will have several parts, each focused on a different region of the world. First, we visit Western Africa, where we encounter the Igbo people. The Igbo, one of Nigeria's largest tribes, live in an area of southern Nigeria along the Niger River. It is important to note that traditionally, the Igbo do not use "surnames," they use their father's first name. Likewise, they do not often use middle names, so you will choose one name from each list presented below. Enjoy!

Now, we travel west to the Akan people of Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire. The Akan people encompass many subgroups including the Akyem, the Fante, the Ashanti, and the Sefwi. Here we will use Ethnic-Ashanti naming practices, but we will use names from many subgroups of the Akan culture. Many Akan children are named for the day of the week they are born, and the firstborn child is often named for their father's mother or father. The firstborn child's name might not necessarily be the day of the week on which they were born. Each Ashanti child is also given a family surname which is chosen by the father to honour other members of the family. Here, you will do the choosing.

Finally, in between the Igbo and the Akan we encounter the Yoruba people. The Yoruba live in Togo, Benin, and far-western Nigeria and are known for their skilled and detailed craftsmanship and their brightly coloured food and dress. Yoruba names are selected with great care and thought and are given to the child on the seventh day after birth.
