I've been thinking about Crystal recently, wondering the same question!
It definitely fits with the current nature name trend but I also think the reason why it was popular in the 80s is its similarity to other already popular Chris- names (Christina, Kristen etc.) They're now dated as well so I doubt Crystal will come back any time soon.
Personally, I like it. It's not something I'd use but I do enjoy the sound and the calming frozen water image.
