There are those old-fashioned but cute names, and Alfred is no exception. It might leave the American chart soon, but it's getting popular in the UK.
Other examples that fit this criteria are Wilbur, Arthur and Percy.
I adore its nerdy vibe. I'd use Alfie and Freddy as nicknames.
