[Opinions] Re: Some Hawaiian names
in reply to a message by Felie
The only person I know from Hawaii is named Gloria.
I grew up with a Maleah (Malia), but she has no ancestral connection to Hawaii.
Most Hawaiian names sound pleasant to me, but I'm thrown off by names being described as "Hawaiian form of _____" because most of them don't seem similar to the other forms at all to me. I'm more interested in names that originated in Hawaii as the meanings seem to be sweet and poetic.
I've heard most traditional Hawaiian names aren't gendered, but I don't know if that's true.
*lani names are pretty and sound trendy.
I like Kalena (but also Kalina and Galina, just like that sound in general), Kapono, Noa, Lehua, Keone, and Kai. I'll probably always associate Noa as being Hebrew, though.
There aren't any I dislike.
