[Opinions] Allison Miranda
Listening to songs by Garth Brooks this morning and one of his songs is called Allison Miranda.I prefer Alison to Allison but I went through a phase of wanting to name a daughter Alison Miranda. WDYT?

I also prefer Alison! Though I've known more LL Allisons than L ones. I can't say I enjoy the repeated A sounds in Alison MirAnda. Miranda is a gorgeous name, but while 'randy' is still in insulting use, it's safer as a mn. I'd use either Alice or Alison any day; DH can't agree to Alison because of a very inconvenient step-relative, so Alice it would be. Once again, not Alice Miranda. Too rocking-horse repetitive. I know a Jessica Miranda, which pleases me more though I'm not keen on the two -a endings either. Must be one of my fussy days.

I used to love the name Alisa (Ah-lee-sah), but I've never really liked the *son part in Alison / Allison.
Miranda is gorgeous, though.

If it helps, it's not actually -son in Alison. It's composed of Alis- (i.e. Alice) and -on (a medieval French diminutive suffix). You see the same ending in names like Manon, Marion, and Ninon.

Thanks for the info! I didn't know that.
Well, I blame Madison, this name led me astray! :)

I still prefer Alis, Alice, Alissa, Alyssa, to deceptive Alison.

I also prefer Alison, but I think Alison Miranda is a delightful combo.
