I think it is gorgeous. Since it is a Japanese sun goddess, it probably doesn't get a lot of use as an everyday name, but I wish that it became popular as a name in Japan like Diana was used here for a while.

It's a beautiful name and I love the mythology, but it's too much to be used today.

I think the nickname Ame is nice since 天 can be read as Ame.
