Margot is one of my favorite names. While I have a somewhat unpleasant past association with the name (and with this spelling), it hasn't dissuaded me entirely from using Margot. Even though it began life as a nickname for Marguerite (which I do also like) I think it sounds both elegant and professional.

I also like it approximately a zillion times more than Margaret, which has always seemed cold and "gritty" (literally) to me. I also dislike Maggie, and the "ag" sound in general (no Agatha or Agnes for me either). So... I guess you can say my favorite diminutive of Margaret is Margot? Though Meg isn't too bad (but then I'd go for Megara before Margaret or even Meghan).

Margot is so very charming! It seems to pair well with a lot of different first or middle names - none off the top of my head, but that's just an observation from playing games here. I like the Margaux spelling a lot as well, but they feel just a bit different from each other to see them written out. Margot's more buoyant than Margaux, if that makes any sense.

My favorite diminutive of Margaret is Mae. I love it as a full name or as a nickname. It would make a good nickname for very many names starting with M.

I do enjoy the name Margot my favorite diminutive is Peggy.

I don't really enjoy Margot, but I've got nothing against it. And I've known two Margaret people who use the full form regularly - one of them is my cousin. I much prefer that. The usual short form in South Africa is Margie, with the G as in Margaret or Gareth rather than Margery or George. And I dislike it thoroughly. I used to like Megan until it went viral, and I still like Peggy but it would be easier to just name someone Peggy rather than fight an uphill battle against Maggie and Margie! I taught a Peggy once, so it can happen.

I know someone named this and she pronounces her name mar-GOTT. I prefer this pronunciation to the silent T.

I love Margot! It's in my top ten. It's my favourite diminutive for Margaret. It is very on-trend in French.

I like Marguerite

Every time I see Margot, (ok, maybe every other time), I remember the quote I found while searching for the information about that name.

"Sophia looked at me. I told her, "Mom thought Margot with a t was higher class."

Yeah, I know now how Margot got its t, but I always prefer just Margo.
It's a nice name with a stylish -o ending!

It's probably pretty evenly divided between Margot, Margaux and Miette for me. But tbh because as an American of my age group I don't really know any Margots IRL, the first time I came across this name was, well, Margot Frank circa reading Anne Frank's Diary in middle school. So even though I really like the name it always has a slightly lingering sadness with it in my mind. Also, justice for Margot and her own diary that was lost, that I'm sure would have been a riveting insight from the other perspective.

I love it! It's cute and stylish, and interesting with that -o sound at the end. I think it's my favourite Margaret diminutive.
