Winifred is elegant, but not quite graceful. She is, however, very strong.
Twenty years ago Winifred might have been seen as hideously old-fashioned, but popular tastes in many circles are returning to names that were more popular at the turn of the 20th century, or perhaps before. The movie Tuck Everlasting came out... yeah, almost 20 years ago, in 2002. Wow. Anyway, this movie might have helped make Winifred more palatable to a wide audience.
I can't stand Winnie, though. Win is fine, but I actually like Fred / Freddie as a nickname (I blame Angel).
