In the Spanish language we cannot have a word starting with a consonant, it must be added an E like in Estereo or Estereotipo thus Stella wouldn't be considered a Spanish name but rather Italian with the same meaning like Estrella/Star.
Of course Ester/Esther is a totally different ballgame as Ester is the name of an ancient queen of Babylon some 3 thousand years ago but very popular nowadays in the Spanish speaking countries (of course without the middle H).
Estela (one L) means in Spanish Wake or Trail, "la estela del barco" but a well known derivative is the well known Stella by Arthur Miller or the one by Tennessee Williams.

I like it! It's been on my maybe list for a while. I'm not a fan of most -ella names, but this has a far more pleasant sound to my ears with the same 'star' meaning. Oh and it's similar to Astraea, which I love, but there's no 'ash tray' sound which puts me off.

Estrella is okay. Not as good as Estella or Estelle in my opinion though. It’s kinda like how I feel with Iris. The ‘r’ is what I get twisted up on and that’s what makes me not like it enough.

I quite like it, and I also like Estelle, Esther and Stella, but in terms of usage I'd choose Estrella over the other three.

However, its pronunciation would be a problem for non-Spanish-speakers. I wonder how the American bearers pronounce it, since it started being used in the late 90s in the States.
