[Opinions] Douglas
Do you like Douglas?
What about the nicknames Doug or Dougie?
Do you live in the US, UK or somewhere else?
Just wondering if the people in the UK get a different image. It was popular there for way longer, especially in Scotland.
How do you imagine a Doug, Dougie or Douglas (age, looks, hobbies, job)?
What kind of image do you get?

I like it. I know two boys named Dougie, which seems to be more popular than the full name at the moment.
I like the name Douglas. I have known/known of two people called Douglas one was born in the 1950s and one in the 1960s. One is my dad’s cousin and he lives with a long term partner and her children and drives buses.
The other Douglas was my husband’s birth dad who died in 1983 when his son was just 7 months old. He worked in a factory maintaining the machines whilst going to college to study engineering.
Both men were/are called Douglas by almost everyone except my mother in law who called her husband Dougie and pronounced it Doogie.

I'm in South Africa. The only Douglas I know is late 30s to early 40s: married with children, school teacher (high school English and I think drumming); he played in the provincial Youth Orchestra, which is impressive. I like the name. His parents have Scottish connections, which might have influenced their choice of name.
Doug works well enough as a nn; Dougie is very juvenile.

It's ok, I'm in Australia.
