[Facts] Re: wrong information
in reply to a message by Eren
There are several entries for Eren. In different communities and languages it will have different origins. for such a short, simple name this is not unexpected nor implausible. No-one was suggesting the Turkish name Eren has a Kurdish origin, although given the polyglot origin of the modern Turkish language you should neither be surprised nor offended if it did. A Kurdish origin may be offensive or embarrassing for Turkish families now, but that was not always the case. It's not unusual for a name which has an origin in a now offensive language to be retconned with a fabricated meaning from a more socially acceptable source. Similarly since many Jewish families came from German-speaking areas of Europe, they had German names, but after WWII the origins of those names were sometimes re-written to have a more desirable Hebrew source.
