I do like Asia as a nickname to Joanna. I knew a Polish Joanna "Asia" and both she and the name were really sweet.

I know it’s popular in Italy, probably popularized by Asia Argento but I find it too wordy personally.

Better than Australia! But that's the nicest comment I can think of.

I love this name with this pronunciation, but wouldn't use it because of the continent. I'm not a fan of place names. I don't like it as much pronounced AH-sha (polish diminutive) or AY-zhah.

It is pretty. I can't get passed that it's a continent with that spelling.

I also like similar names like Persia and Aja, but would never use them.

I agree that it sounds prettier with that pronunciation, but I can't get over it being the name of a continent.
