[Opinions] Donna

I actually really like Donna. In threads that ask your favorite popular names from past eras, I've written before that I think if I'd been a mom in the 60s or 70s and without access to name nerd resources, I could easily have had kids named Kevin, Nicholas (which I still love), Donna, and / or Lori.
While I would love for Donna to come back, it's too much of a Mom / Grandma Name right now. Give it another 40 years, when it potentially becomes a Great-Grandma name, because that's generally when they start to appeal again.

I think it's cute. Two of my cousins (they're sisters) have an aunt named Donna.
Donna is a very very common name for older women in my neck of the woods. It's on par with Brenda (a name I hate). Most Donnas I know are very nice, so I don't mind it, and I wonder if its 70s energy will ever be "cool" again. Maybe once it becomes a great-grandma name? I see it's still being used in the Netherlands quite a bit!
I taught a boy whose younger sister (too young for high school) was Donné, pronounced Donnay. South Africans have historically been bad at French, though it is increasingly being taught in schools as a third language, so this may well change. Whatever! Donné is enough to make anyone prefer Donna, in spite of doner kebabs and the sixteen-year-old virgin in Hair! But it's a silly name, somehow manages to be both pretentious and down-market.
It's ok, I know a Donna in her early 20s
I feel like if it came back, it may revive itself as Dawna. Or... something to that effect. I personally like the name Donna in its original form, but it seems too common and just not quite vintage enough to "come back" yet.
Kebab
Probably not. This type of food item is very common where I'm from. It makes the name sound very... "meaty".

Donna is a food?
A "Doner Kebab" is. It's pronounced in the exact same way, unfortunately. Perhaps without the image of a large, rotating hunk of meat on a spit, Donna would sound nicer to my ears. As it is, it's kinda like naming a child "Bacon"
I had no idea that this existed but it looks yummy.
Its very popular. Often joked that its what drunk people buy at the end of the night. Sold in either specialised kebab places (who sell burgers and fish and chips on the side) or sometimes in chippies (on the side). They're all over the place here so if you ever come over, you'll have no shortage of options lol
