Amara is pretty, though I've heard it pronounced A-MARE-a as well, so the ambiguity is a turn-off.
Amana is a brand of kitchen appliances in the US; fridges and stoves and such. Probably named Amana because of the meaning of trust? Don't like it anyhow, it just looks like Amanda with a bite taken out of it.Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you criticize him, you're a mile away and you have his shoes!

The kitchen appliances thing wouldn’t be an issue, since I’m in Australia. And the pronunciation you mentioned for Amara would be more of an American thing, because of the accent.
