[Opinions] Re: Carissa

I like that name.
I like it a little bit more spelled Karissa.
I also like Calista and Calissa. I think of those as similar, more than I think of it as similar to Clarissa - because I pronounced the first A in Clarissa as long A, like in Claire or Clarice, and Carissa is like "car" -issa.
And I like Kara ("car - uh") as well.
Charissa (same prn, and same name IMO, as Carissa) is nice, but I think some people would tend to pronounce it with a SH- sound.
I think Carissa is pretty associated with the 90s -issa trend (Alyssa, Marissa, Larissa). I don't really mind or notice that, but someone born in the 80s or 90s might think it'd be dated as a baby name right now.
The only thing I really don't like about it is that it slightly reminds me of the word "caress." When I see it as a person's name, though, that doesn't come to mind. It just sounds sort of pleasantly frilly and feminine, but not prissy, to me. Clarissa sounds a little bit prissy to me, but not Carissa... I guess because Carissa is more trendy-style.
