I'm not sure what you mean by len vs. lin. The final vowel in Colin is a schwa, right? So it would sound the same whether you write it as an i or an e?
I like Collen better than Collin, just because Collin makes me think "ok but Colin is nicer" while Collen doesn't immediately make me think of Colin. It does also look more like Colleen, and since it's a middle name it wouldn't matter if people were confused about how to say or spell it.
